Innisbrook, FL (PRWEB) April 28, 2009 — After a far-reaching renovation plan which has touched all areas of the resort, Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club has signaled the project’s completion with the opening of its new Indaba Spa. The 20,000-square-foot spa and fitness center represents the crowning centerpiece in an impressive list of renovations totaling over $26 million.

Innisbrook’s Management Company Salamander Hospitality, founded by noted entrepreneur and philanthropist Sheila C. Johnson, began an aggressive renovation of the resort immediately upon Johnson’s purchase of the property in July 2007.

“Our goal was to restore this beautiful, unique property back to its rightful place amongst the finest resorts in America,” said Innisbrook’s Managing Director Chuck Pomerantz. “The opening of the Indaba Spa creates a total package for travelers of all tastes and interests at a great value.”

The name “Indaba” is Zulu for “gathering place” and the concept behind the new facility is to provide a place where mind and body can meet. Innisbrook hired Spa Consultants WTS International from Rockville, MD, to help develop this concept and create complementary programming.

Inspiration, relaxation and indulgence were the main considerations when designing Indaba’s 12 treatment rooms, which feature soothing tones and private outdoor terraces. The spa also includes a couple’s treatment room with fireplace and private shower, outdoor courtyard and meditation labyrinth, separate men’s and ladies steam rooms and lounges, full-service hair and nail salon, and a line of spa services that include personalized massage treatments, scrubs and wraps. Spa packages have also been designed especially for the golfer, couples, mothers-to-be and “just for the girls” escapes. Already, some of the most popular treatments include “Ice Cream Social” manicures and pedicures, which include an exfoliating scrub and wrap in a variety of flavors like chocolate, caramel and marshmallow.

Indaba also includes a new fitness facility with separate Pilates and spinning studios. The unique meditation labyrinth that leads from the fitness center to the spa offers a meditative walking path. It is designed to offer a way to slow down, reflect as you walk and quiet the mind. While a typical maze is designed to make you lose your way, a meditative labyrinth is designed to help to you find your way.    Indaba offers a unique half-day “7 Paths to Wellness” package that pampers both body and soul, and incorporates this meditation labyrinth, along with a wellness consultation, private yoga class, spa services, lunch and special gift.

Every area of Innisbrook was touched during the recent renovation project, including all 65,000 square feet of conference space that is used for special events, weddings and family gatherings and corporate meetings. Each of the three golf clubhouses was remodeled including fabulous new restaurants such as Packard’s Steak House and Market Salamander Grille & Bar. At the new Osprey Clubhouse, there is also a new centralized guest registration area and a new indoor/outdoor bar that overlooks the North and South courses. The resort’s Tennis Center, which features 11 clay courts, also received a new look, as did as each of Innisbrook’s six swimming pools.

Known already for an outstanding golf experience, Innisbrook’s four championship golf courses each received upgrades, including $2 million in improvements to the Island Course, which some believe offers an even more challenging test than the resort’s famed Copperhead Course, home to the PGA TOUR’s Transitions Championship.

These renovations, as well as a continued commitment to service excellence, have resulted in the resort’s acceptance into both the prestigious Preferred Hotels & Resorts and Preferred Golf programs.
