An Ohio college has announced plans to open a branch campus in early January at a former Livonia elementary school.
FREE PRESS STAFF REPORT • November 29, 2008 — Stautzenberger College says it will offer 15-month accreditation degrees in personal fitness training and massage therapy at the new Stautzenberger Health and Wellness Institute at the former school on Hix Road just east of I-275 and southwest of the intersection with Ann Arbor Road. The programs will prepare students for national certification so that they can work in massage therapy or as fitness trainers for hospitals, fitness clubs, spas, sports teams and other locations.
The college, which is based in Maumee, Ohio, is leasing and renovating the school to provide classrooms, two massage clinics and a fitness training lab. A couple hundred students are expected to take the classes, and will also gain experience providing massage services at community events and offering fitness classes at community centers.
Stautzenberger Institute will begin classes on Jan. 20. The college also has a branch campus near Cleveland in Brecksville, Ohio.
