There’s Swedish relaxation, deep tissue work, hot stone treatment and other types of massage. But cupping? Hmm.

Liliane Sklenarik, the proprietor of Massage Therapy for Health in Hopkinton, added cupping therapy to her repertoire of services in August and says her clients love it. But what is it?

Cupping consists of placing small rubber or glass cups on the body and squeezing the air out to form a vacuum—it also forms a funny-looking bulge of skin inside the cup. But as strange as it looks, it is not at all painful.
