Anyone applying to the Aveda Institute’s spa program in Victoria will find that their carbon footprint is just as important as their massage skills.

Even on the first day of classes, students have to take an environmental quiz to understand their impact on the planet.

That’s because “green” plays a huge part in the Aveda philosophy and training model, says Roxana Barlow, director of operations. “Everything we work on has to do with green living in the work environment,” she explains. “We teach our students that as well.”
