People can perform Reiki on themselves as well as others. During a session, you lie fully clothed on a massage table or are comfortably seated in a chair. You may feel a warming or tingling sensation as the practitioner’s hands come near or lightly touch the body. Some practitioners are able to perform Reiki on someone who is far away. This is known as “distant healing”…The therapy can be used on its own, with other alternative therapies and/or along with conventional medical treatments. Some practitioners caution against using Reiki on people with psychiatric problems, though. Reiki is most commonly used as an aid to improve quality of life and comfort.
