I wish I had been encouraged to consider whether or not massage as taught & practiced in the US was a good fit with my core values and goals. Most of us are attracted to an emotional right-brained impression of massage as a free lifestyle full of bliss and healing. I knew I would excel as as an MT the same way I had excelled in every pursuit before. Looking back I realize my career choices before massage were more left-brained and were a much better fit for me. A good clue from the start would have been the fact that I was – and remain to this day – too frugal get bodywork for myself! Isn’t hindsight 20/20?
