repachage makes a splash, MASSAGE MagazineSarkli-Repêchage Founder and President Lydia Sarfati Tours Repêchage Resort Spas in the Dominican Republic

October 22-26, 2008

Repêchage is making a splash vast enough to reach exotic shores. Lydia Sarfati, founder and president of Sarkli-Repêchage toured through the Dominican Republic this October, paying a visit to several resort spas which offer Repêchage products and treatments.  Lydia’s visit was a special event for the country which features Repêchage products in 60% of its spas.  Hosted by Dominican Republic Repêchage distributors Clarissa Herrera and Fatima Scheker, the creator herself was able to offer hands-on training and demonstrations to over 100 skincare specialists.

Lydia, accompanied by Repechage International Educator Adriana Beltran, arrived in Santo Domingo for a Repêchage conference that focused on the company and its products and treatments, on October 23rd. The conference offered the gamut of Repêchage skincare to a crowd of eager estheticians, spa owners and directors. Specialists were introduced to the Repêchage Opti-firm Eye Treatment, the 2008 Repêchage Holiday lineup and the Repêchage Vita Cura Platinum Collection.

In the following days, the pair was able to make several on-location resort spa visits including: the Kin Ha Spa in the 4-star Oasis Hamaca Hotel in Boca Chica; Cygalle Healing Spa at the 4-star resort Casa de Campo in La Romana; the Renova Spa in the Grand Palladium Punta Cana;  and spas in the Area Dreams and 4-star Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. Each spa offers special packages and treatments, such as Hydrotherapy at Kin Ha and the Hot Indulgent Package at Renova, 150 minutes of luxury for your body featuring Repêchage seaweed-based products. Lydia and Adriana also discovered that the Repêchage Apres Soleil Facial is a favorite among vacationers who soaked up too many rays.   All parties involved emerged with new enrichment- in education, training and spa culture.

The spa business is a rapidly growing industry for the Dominican Republic as tourism booms. Referred to as the “New Caribbean,” the Dominican Republic is one of the fastest growing tourism spots, developing 8% in 2008 and subsequently boosting the demand for more decadent accommodations. Millions of dollars are being invested in amenities, widely including spa facilities, to support the thriving tourist industry. A less competitive and saturated real estate market has lent to a new crop of resorts, specifically more luxurious and larger complexes for tourists who want to pamper themselves- including celebrities such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who have recently taken an interest in the area.  The Dominican Republic is evolving its former image as an inexpensive package-deal vacation destination to a high-end getaway.
