Eclipsys Corporation® (NASDAQ: ECLP), The Outcomes Company®, today announced that Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH), New Brunswick, NJ, has completed a successful activation of Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager™s „ integrated modules Sunrise Acute Care„ and its integrated pharmacy information solution, Sunrise Pharmacy„.

With High Rate of Adoption for CPOE, RWJUH Already Achieving Real Value from Eclipsys Solutions

More than 4000 clinicians and support personnel were trained on Eclipsys solutions, who are currently processing more than 12,000 new medication orders daily. RWJUH™s physicians are already placing 75 percent of orders though Eclipsys computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system, the most widely used in the healthcare industry, helping to meet the organization™s goals for clinician satisfaction, high-quality and consistent care, and efficient resource utilization.

We are very excited about our successful deployment of Sunrise Clinical Manager, particularly having an integrated order entry and pharmacy information solution to help us deliver the safest possible patient care, said Dr. Josh Bershad, associate chief medical officer & chief quality officer for RWJUH. The Eclipsys team has been a great partner throughout the implementation process, and we are already achieving more value than we originally anticipated with such a high rate of physician adoption for CPOE.

With Sunrise Acute Care now live, RWJUH caregivers have access to up-to-date health records and unified views of clinical data, helping them better coordinate the complexities of acute care to help improve patient safety and care quality. Physicians also can make informed, timely decisions and clinical teams can deliver integrated care throughout the course of the patient™s treatment. Sunrise Knowledge-Based Charting is also helping RWJUH to facilitate information sharing among clinicians, while providing a foundation for clinical standardization. The solution helps to ensure a consistent documentation methodology that promotes superior care quality by decreasing variability.

With each activation, Eclipsys is committed to helping our clients achieve rapid time to value with our solutions and the spectacular team at RWJUH helped us achieve our goals, said Jay Deady, Eclipsys executive vice president, Client Solutions. It is very gratifying to see RWJUH™s physicians now placing the majority of orders through our CPOE solution so quickly following the activation. We look forward to taking the next step with RWJUH, including documenting how Eclipsys solutions are helping to contribute to outcome improvements.

Added Deady, With this activation at RWJUH and many others we™ve completed over the last few months, our professional services organization is building a track record for successful activations that is unmatched in our industry. In fact, since the start of 2008, we have doubled the number of live integrated Sunrise Pharmacy sites and expect to double that number again by the end of the year.

Eclipsys ˜Smart Selection™ Helps Make Medication Management Safer

Once an order is placed in the Eclipsys CPOE system, Sunrise Pharmacy enables RWJUH™s pharmacists to electronically review and verify orders to increase medication dispensing safety. In addition, the system will help RWJUH avoid medication errors by offering advanced clinical decision support for checking medication dosages and potential contraindications.

RWJUH is also taking advantage of Sunrise Pharmacy™s Smart Selection algorithm to automatically perfect the medication order to the best product fit, based on location, cost and waste. This helps reduce costs and waste and improve reimbursements, all while providing the most effective treatment for the individual patient.
