One of the massage profession’s leading research organizations has benefited from the generosity of both vendors and conference attendees. A check for $4,140 was presented to the Massage Therapy Foundation at the end of September, a figure representing funds raised by a special event at the American Massage Therapy Association’s annual national convention in Phoenix, Arizona.

Massage Warehouse presents its Sanctuary event at various massage conferences to raise funds for the foundation or the Touch Research Institutes. The Sanctuary consists of an area in an exhibit hall where massage therapists perform foot massages and treatments in exchange for $10 per treatment, with all proceeds going toward the donation.

To date, Sanctuary events have raised almost $30,000 for research.

The September event’s partners with Massage Warehouse included MASSAGE Magazine, Bon Vital, Performance Health, Soothing Touch, TH Stone, Unique Skincare, Massage Today and Massage Envy.

The foundation’s mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of massage therapy by supporting scientific research, education and community service.
