It’s been 30 years since Sarasota School of Massage Therapy first opened, though it had a different name at first.
When Isabelle Dunkeson founded one of the first massage therapy schools in Florida, she called it the Sarasota School of Natural Healing Arts. The school has grown and thrived since then, under various names and various owners. It will be celebrating its 30-year reunion Nov. 8 and 9 with a big bash.
Thousands of massage therapists have graduated from the school since 1978, and the school is trying to locate graduates to let them know about this chance to share memories and reconnect with old friends, classmates, and teachers.
The school has had several names and locations over the past thirty years:
Sarasota School of Natural Healing Arts (1978-1984)
American School of Holistic Massage – Venice Campus (1984-1986)
American School of Holistic Massage – Sarasota Campus (1986-1987)
Sarasota School of Massage Therapy – (1987-2008)
To participate in the festivities, graduates can contact the school at (941) 957-0577 or firstname.lastname@example.org – and they can encourage graduates they know to do the same. The school is also looking for volunteers to help locate graduates and ensure that all classes are well represented.
