NASSAU, The Bahamas, Jan. 21, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Steiner Leisure Limited (Nasdaq:STNR) today announced that its luxury resort spa division, Mandara Spa, has entered into an agreement to operate a luxury spa facility located at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii. The term of the agreement is five years, with an option to renew for an additional five-year term at Mandara’s option. Steiner Leisure will be required to invest up to $200,000 in connection with the build-out of the spa, which is currently under construction.

The new spa is estimated to open in March 2009.

The 3,000-square-foot luxury facility will feature unique signature treatments by Mandara, including massage, facials and other spa services.

The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, a historic property constructed decades ago under the vision of Laurence Rockefeller, was built as a fusion of East and West in an early manifestation of eco-tourism. The hotel is perched on a hillside overlooking a stunning white-sand crescent beach on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Complemented by the world famous Mauna Kea Golf Course built over black lava rock, championship tennis courts, and an extensive collection of Pacific and Asian art, the hotel offers 258 elegant guest rooms with breathtaking mountain and ocean views.

Leonard Fluxman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Steiner Leisure, said, “We are delighted to expand our presence on the beautiful island of Hawaii. It is a true honor to offer our environmentally conscious products and services in this glorious setting, which complements the Mandara approach to spa-therapy, rooted in bringing the ancient healing traditions of the East to the West.”
