Akron, Ohio—Two massage therapy students received $500 Successful Hands grants during Student Day at the ONE Concept Conference on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014.
The Successful Hands Grant Program™, launched through the collaborative efforts of Biofreeze®, Massage Envy Spa® and Bon Vital’®, supports professional massage therapy students in their educational pursuits. ONE Concept, the conference organizer, partnered with Biofreeze, Massage Envy Spa and Bon Vital’ to promote the grant program during the conference.
Student Andrea Guy from the International Professional School of Bodywork, San Diego, California, and graduate Paul Chen from David’s Massage School, Whittier, California, were each presented $500 Successful Hands grants by CG Funk, vice president, industry relations and product development for Massage Envy Spa Franchising; Marshall Dahneke, CEO, Performance Health/Biofreeze and Bon Vital’ brands; and Scott Dartnall, president and CEO of ONE Concept.
“Congratulations to Andrea and Paul on winning a Successful Hands Grant. We are pleased to be able to offer this grant program, and trust that these funds will further support Andrea and Paul on their path to a highly successful massage therapy career,” stated Funk.
“I’d like to add my congratulations and thank ONE Concept for their continued support of our grant program,” added Dahneke. “We know that collaborative programs such as this provide real opportunities for all of us to contribute to our profession’s strength and secure its future.”

Current massage therapy students can also apply for one of five $1,000 Successful Hands grants. The grant application process requires students to complete an essay of 200 words or less on “What does being a successful massage therapist mean to me?” A team of industry representatives will review all submissions to choose the five winners. In addition, each winner’s school will receive a $500 grant and a $500 product package.
Student applications must be received by Oct. 15, 2014, and are accepted online at www.successfulhandsgrants.com. Winners will be notified no later than Dec. 1, 2014. The grant funds can be used for program fees, books and supplies, licensing, association membership or to purchase product and equipment.
