She received degrees in mathematics, computer science and software engineering from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (B.S.) and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (M.S.E.). She is a practicing Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children and a trained parenting coordinator.
