ACHS_Logo_image-webAfter serving over 10 years as an officer with the Phoenix Police Department (PPD) and eight years on active duty with the United States Army Reserve (USAR), Officer Janice Straight suffered an injury while training for deployment with Operation Iraqi Freedom. She then began a search for a more holistic approach to health and wellness and found American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS).

“With the Post 9/11 GI Bill, I followed my dream,” says Straight. “I graduated with a Master of Science in Holistic Nutrition, and I am actively continuing my pursuit of a holistic life.” ACHS makes it easy for U.S. Armed Forces service members, their spouses, and veterans to take full advantage of their education benefits and invest in their future with degree programs and career training in holistic health. ACHS was recently named a 2016 Military Friendly School by Victory Media for the seventh year in a row in recognition of the institution’s initiatives to support military students and spouses.

“With ACHS being an accredited online teaching institution, I have been able to follow my dream no matter where I have been living,” Straight says. “The teaching staff is exemplary. The quality and diversity of students also makes this a fantastic institution for learning. I have been given some amazing tools. Now, I will use my skills and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of friends, family, and potential clients.”

Offering support and encouragement to military students is a high priority for ACHS. “Students like Janice demonstrate the success that military students can achieve when they are fully supported in their educational goals. Her academic record is excellent, and she is a wonderful ambassador for the college,” says ACHS President and Founder Dorene Petersen. “I am very proud of Janice and we will continue to be committed to supporting our military students.”

Victory Media’s Military Friendly Schools list features schools that represent the top tier of institutions with leading opportunities for military service members and spouses.
