The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced today that Steve Kirin had resumed his role of CEO at the organization. On Friday the NCBTMB announced that interim CEO Leena Guptha, D.O., B.C.T.M.B., had left the NCBTMB.
The NCBTMB promotes and administers its Board Certification, which it introduced to the massage field in 2013, and approves continuing education providers and classes.
Guptha was named Interim CEO on March 31, following an announcement that Kirin would not renew his contract with the NCBTMB. Chair-Elect Bruce Baltz, L.M.T., B.C.T.M.B., assumed the role of chair at that point.
Today the NCBTMB also announced that Teresa Matthews, L.M.T., C.P.T., B.C.T.M.B., had moved into the role of chair-elect.
Of Guptha’s departure, a press released noted, “Dr. Guptha was offered a transformational career opportunity in the field of Education and, cooperatively with the NCBTMB Board of Directors, determined it was in the best interest of all concerned to transition at this time.
“Throughout her Board service, Dr. Guptha was instrumental in developing new and better relationships with key industry stakeholders. The NCBTMB Board of Directors sincerely thanks Dr. Guptha for all of her efforts, and wishes her the very best in her future endeavors.”
