On Oct. 15, the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced a partnership with CE Broker, a nationwide continuing education tracking system, to provide a voluntary, free account for its members to better report and track CE beginning mid-2020. Such a partnership aims to further streamline NCBTMB’s renewal processes for active Board Certificants and Approved Providers.

The partnership aims to offer a free CE Broker account to all active NCBTMB Certificants and Approved Providers. Should members wish to take advantage of the partnership, the free CE Broker account will empower members to:

  • Manually report CE hours
  • Upload documentation of course completion
  • Self-monitor compliance with Board Certification and licensure renewal requirements
  • Avoid self-reporting of CE on Board Certification renewal applications
  • Search CE Broker’s catalog of CE courses approved by NCBTMB and state boards
  • Provide Approved Providers the opportunity to create a free account to report course completions, as well as list their NCBTMB-approved courses on the platform.

“Over the past few years, we have actively listened to feedback from our Certificants, key stakeholders, state boards, and the profession to improve our processes and procedures surrounding Board Certification. As a direct result of such feedback, we updated our initial and renewal requirements for Board Certification, as well as launched a new, custom-built Operating System in 2018,” said Steve Kirin, CEO of the NCBTMB. “Our partnership with CE Broker adds another level of convenience for Certificants to better track and report CE completed within their renewal period. Furthermore, it aims to avoid duplication of efforts among our APs, Certificants and state boards.”

Justin Mann, Director of Operations, CE Broker, added: “All active Certificants that wish to take advantage of the free account will also have the option to upgrade their CE Broker account to access additional benefits at a discounted rate, such as detailed compliance transcripts and concierge support. Approved Providers will have the option to utilize the platform to quickly and easily report course completions into the system — all at no cost — via manual addition, file upload or an automated integration. Together, NCBTMB and CE Broker will help to better connect everyone involved in CE and Certification to simplify compliance for all.”

Development for such a collaboration is already in motion and is slated for a late mid-2020 launch. Additional details to be released in early 2020.
