On March 19, the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced a new Specialty Certificate Program in Reflexology, available immediately.
“NCB is thrilled to provide this opportunity to massage therapists and reflexologists throughout the country,” commented Donna Sarvello, VP of Educational Support. “This program was created based on direct feedback from the profession. It is meant to empower practicing therapists and reflexologists with a nationally-recognized Specialty Certificate to demonstrate a deeper understanding and skill set than the average or entry-level therapist.”
Eligibility requirements for the Specialty Certificate in Reflexology include:
- Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of examination
- Passing score on the NCBTMB Specialty Exam
- Graduation from a formal massage therapy program AND completed a minimum of 36 CEs in Reflexology, OR
- Graduation from a legitimate, state-approved Reflexology program of 120 hours or more
Education submitted must be through NCBTMB Assigned Schools, NCBTMB Approved Providers, approved institutions/providers through the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB), or state board approved institutions/providers.
Steve Kirin, CEO, added: “Board Certificants interested in achieving this Specialty are on the fast-track—as your formal massage education was previously reviewed and approved during the certification process, you simply must demonstrate a minimum of 36 CEs in Reflexology to become eligible to test. We hope this simplified application process will make the decision even easier to pursue yet another career-advancing achievement.”
The NCBTMB Reflexology Specialty Exam consists of 70 multiple-choice questions and is graded in raw score format. The exam assesses an individual’s knowledge of Pathology, Reflexology Applications, Anatomy and Physiology, Reflex Locations, Ethics and Professionalism, and Sanitation.
The exam is available at all nationwide Prometric testing centers.
The cost of the Reflexology Specialty Certificate Exam is $125.
