San Antonio (March 21, 2018) – Massage Heights, a leader of professional, affordable and convenient therapeutic massage and facial services, announced today it plans to develop 10 new retreats throughout the Fort Worth market and surrounding areas as part of its continued Texas expansion in the coming years. The growth will be led by new area representative and local entrepreneur Maggie Walker, who will open the new locations over the next several years. Walker’s first location is slated to open in Abilene, Texas, by the end of 2018.
As part of her role as Area Representative, Walker also will lead the franchisee recruitment efforts for the brand to open additional retreats throughout the region. Massage Heights is targeting its expansion in communities throughout Fort Worth, West Texas and Central Texas.
“My first visit to a Massage Heights Retreat occurred while I was on vacation with my husband. We’ve been researching new concepts to bring to our local community and quickly realized that a membership-based massage Retreat was just what our area was missing,” said Walker. “I am thrilled to be an area representative of Fort Worth and the other surrounding communities and look forward to applying my background in franchising to develop the area with not only locations of my own, but also with other prospective franchisees.”
As a veteran to the franchise industry, Maggie Walker is a certified public accountant and has accumulated nearly 15 years of experience in the human resources and payroll departments of her existing business. Alongside her husband, she opened her first Sport Clips franchise location in 2004 and now has three locations throughout the state of Texas. She has implemented a business structure that emphasizes the importance of treating employees with respect, creating an enjoyable and respectful place to work. After visiting several Massage Heights Retreats while traveling and researching the membership-based business model, Walker wanted to develop the brand in her local market. Eddie Lackey, Walker’s son-in-law, will assist in the business as the regional manager.
“Texas is a strong, underpenetrated market for Massage Heights and we are thrilled to continue our targeted development in key locations throughout the Fort Worth area,” said Tim Hicks, senior vice president of franchise operations and development for Massage Heights. “Maggie has an exceptional understanding of franchising service-based concepts and we are confident that she will be an incredible asset to the brand.”
Massage Heights reported over $100 million in revenue and the opening of 14 Retreats nationwide in 2017 — a record year in revenue for the rapidly growing franchise concept. Prospective franchisees should have $175,000 in liquid assets and minimum $400,000 net worth per location, as well as experience in sales or retail management and managing hourly wage employees. As part of its accelerated growth strategy, the brand also is targeting franchise development in Nashville, Chicago, St. Louis, South Florida, and Las Vegas.
