NCBTMB Board Certification is Equivalent to 33 College Credits Toward Massage Therapy Degree, MASSAGE MagazineThe National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced today Teresa M. Matthews, LMT, CPT, BCTMB, has been named Chair of the Certification Board, effective immediately.

Matthews’ new role as Chair comes at the departure of former Board Chair, Bruce Baltz. Baltz was given the opportunity to participate in the recent Certification Board Elections following NCB’s recent restructuring; however, due to personal reasons, Baltz notified NCB he would no longer be able to carry out his role.

“On behalf of the Certification Board and Staff, I want to express our sincerest gratitude to former Chair, Bruce Baltz. All of us have had the pleasure of working alongside Bruce over the past few years to set the stage for the new NCB that we are today. His presence will be greatly missed. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. I am honored to take on this new role and further advance NCB’s mission,” expressed Matthews.

Steve Kirin, chief executive officer, echoed Matthews’ comments: “Working with Bruce over the past year has certainly contributed to the betterment of NCB. I wish him much continued success. Matthews’ new role as Chair is effective immediately for a two-year term, culminating in 2019.

Teresa is a Licensed and Board Certified Massage Therapist, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, National CE Provider, and World Champion Athlete. For the past 18 years, she has owned and operated a successful Massage School in Jacksonville, Florida. Today, she continues to teach advanced massage training and her Personal Training Certification Program.

Teresa graduated from the Arlington School of Massage in Jacksonville in 1996. With over 30 years of experience in the fitness industry, Teresa has taken healthcare to a new level by organizing Health, Wellness & Fitness Professionals, Inc. Her practice brings optimal therapy to her clients by combining massage and personal training bodywork. She specializes in Kinesiology, Deep Tissue/Sports Massage, Strength Training and Stretching.
