I feel that overall they have been good for the profession. They have raised the visibility of massage as a viable, legitimate health and wellness service. As a result of these franchises and chains opening people who may have never gotten a massage have tried it out, and more importantly, they have liked it! After being introduced to massage at this level many clients move on to explore other massage venues and those of us who do not work within the franchise market then have a larger base of potential clients to market to and draw from.
