From the MASSAGE Magazine article titled “Hospital Spas: A Prosperous Partnership,” by Associate Editor Chris Towery, in the July 2008 issue. Article summary: Hospitals are incorporating in-house spas to better serve patients and stand out among the competition—and the rise of these spas is uniting the health-care and spa industries
while creating a host of new employment opportunities for massage therapists.
Check out these hospital spas to learn more about their spa services and employment opportunities they offer massage therapists.

Sounds like a great idea but it would seem that anything holistic would go against the more popular symptomatic approach that most hospitals would use. Do need a hospital to do Lymph Drainage massage? In California there is a 1000 hr Holistic Practitioner course, you should check with your local schools they should have it as well.

Dear Mr. Towery, I recently saw the article on hospital spas but there were no listings in my area. Can you help? I tried right after getting out of school back in 2000 to go to local hospitals and they virtually shunned the idea of doing massage. I have been interested in giving to others for a long time and still do to this day. I am also a fitness professional (instructor and personal trainer) I care alot about others but due to not having an exercise physiology degree, I seem to get turned away. Should I continue to pursue just going from hospital to hospital which is quite draining or do you have any further information that may help me. Any assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated. I am currently looking into training for Lymph Drainage massage which would benefit patients also. Thank you for your time.
