At a presentation ceremony held Saturday, May 30, in Boca Raton, Florida, Christopher Merrell, founder of the first and only mobile massage virtual marketplace app for independently licensed massage therapists, MATAGO, presented a $1,000 scholarship award to Shu Lin of Pompano Beach, Florida.
Inspired by her mother who has been a massage therapist for 15 years with a doctorate in Oriental medicine, Shu Lin is in her third year studying biology at Florida Atlantic University while simultaneously pursuing her massage therapy studies at Cortiva Institute.
“I am extremely honored and grateful to be chosen as the recipient of the MATAGO Scholarship,” says Shu Lin. “MATAGO’s financial support has not only allowed me to get one step closer to my goal of getting my credentials and furthering my career as a massage therapist, but also gives me the motivation to work even harder!”
MATAGO was very impressed with Shu Lin’s scholarship application and her clear desire to help the quality of life of others as a future entrepreneur in the massage industry. “We were particularly touched by Shu’s admiration for her mother, the business she built, and her desire to follow in her footsteps,” said Merrell. “I couldn’t be prouder to present Shu with this $1,000 award to help her achieve her dream.”
MATAGO first launched in the South Florida market in late 2019 with a revolutionary new operating model never seen before in the mobile massage industry. A virtual marketplace that connects therapists and clients, MATAGO is a free service for LMTs to list their services, the geographical range they wish to work within, set their own schedule, and most desirably, to take home 100% of the price they set! While many industry veterans believed the MATAGO model was too good to be true, it turns out that MATAGO is everything it said it would be, and more.
LMTs in the MATAGO virtual marketplace also have the opportunity to opt-in to an affiliate program to earn residual income all year long, whether they provide a massage treatment or not. This, too, is a free service to LMTs, many of whom signed up immediately and are earning extra cash just for spreading the word about MATAGO.
“I think MATAGO is the future of the mobile massage industry,” said Shu Lin. “And speaking of the future, I sincerely thank them for believing in mine.”
