Among the top reasons people get a massage are relaxation and stress relief; because it feels good; or because it helps improve a condition, such as pain. As a massage therapist, you are skilled at achieving these goals—but without changing your routine, is it possible to be even more effective? Is it possible to work and not feel drained from time to time? The answer to both these questions is yes.
The Birth of Quantum-Touch
I have been in the field of energy healing for 40 years, and have written three bestselling books. There is no doubt in my mind that, by incorporating energy healing techniques, massage practitioners can be far more effective than they believe possible. To explain, I’ll go back some years.
It was the summer of 1978 when I learned how to use breathing and body awareness techniques to accelerate the healing process. Fast-forward to 2007, when I discovered a way to work at least twice as fast without touching people. (If you’ve never heard of such a thing, check out “The New Human Movie” on YouTube.)
These two discoveries form the basis of Quantum-Touch.
Quantum-Touch is a form of energy healing that goes beyond reiki. It uses no set hand positions or attunements, although it requires a new set of internal skills that can easily be utilized during massage. When you perform Quantum-Touch, you use life energy to help the client’s body heal.
Level one Quantum-Touch work has been used with great benefit by many certified practitioners when combining it with massage. It works with whatever modality or modalities you are currently using, and increases heir effectiveness.
Quantum-Touch, level two, opens a path to new skill sets. While you massage someone’s shoulders, for example, you could also remove a headache or neck pain, or help a sprained ankle. You can learn to send chi or prana anywhere you think about to help the body heal itself at an accelerated pace.
Resonance and Entrainment
How do we know Quantum-Touch is not some sort of placebo? Before lunch break on the first day of the level one workshop, people learn to untwist pelvic and occipital torsion with just a light touch. In level two, you will learn to do it in about six seconds, without touch, in a way that will cause a permanent shift in structural alignment.
The principles behind all energy healing are resonance and entrainment. The practitioner learns to hold a high vibration through breathing and body-awareness exercises, and then hold that field of energy for the person receiving it. Once transferred to the client, the energy knows what to do to accelerate the healing process.
If you learn the breathing and body awareness exercises of Quantum-Touch, you will not match the energy level of the client and feel drained; the client will rise to match you and feel better.
A Quantum-Touch Session
Quantum-Touch can be integrated into any other modality. By itself, a Quantum-Touch-only session requires no special preparation, although as with any bodywork session, it is wise to ask clients what issues they have—pain or other physical problems.
Both practitioner and client need to be comfortable. This can mean the client is on a massage table, reclined, or even sitting in a chair; it is not necessary to remove any clothing for a session. Sessions can be as short as 10 or 15 minutes or as long as 75 minutes, depending on what is needed.
Typically, during a session the practitioner gently holds his hands sandwiched over areas of the client’s body in need of healing. We call this the “Where does it hurt?” technique. (If Quantum-Touch is incorporated into a massage session, you may not want to keep your hands still for any length of time unless the client wants to try something new.)
At level two, Quantum-Touch teaches a way to accelerate the healing process, and the use of hands is not even necessary. This means you can massage the client’s shoulders while simultaneously using Quantum-Touch techniques to work on a sprained ankle, bringing down the inflammation. This frees you to work on one or multiple parts of a client while not changing the massage protocols of the session.
Clients who receive Quantum-Touch and massage together can feel the difference it makes, and will likely say they feel much better after their sessions.
