As far as success, be personable, get to know your clients, respect them and their space. Listen to them and what they are telling you. Sometimes even the smallest details may lead you to what is causing issues. Don’t go into this trying to get rich; your rewards will be the people you help feel better. Now for safety: Always let someone know where you are going and the name of your client. If you do massages for hotels, bed and breakfasts and so forth, make sure the person at the location that contacts you (i.e. front desk, manager) knows you are going there and who your client will be. I would also recommend you velcro mace or pepper spray under the ledge of your table for added protection. I work in my office alone, so I keep one under my table because I have had one or two scary clients.
